Dr. Maya Vedamurthy’s RSV Skin and Laser centre

Born in a village, Ayanambakkam, Dr. Maya Vedamurthy pursued her career under the able guidance of her parents. She was an outstanding student securing first rank right from her class I. She emerged as the school topper and got selected for medical education into the prestigious institution – Madras Medical College. After completion of M.B.B.S course, she decided to specialize in dermatology for which she had a great passion since her college days. She was fortunate to train in dermatology again in the prestigious institution – Madras Medical College. Her outstanding performance led her to receive the most prestigious award – Dr. Thambiah’s Gold Medal in Dermatology.

During her post-graduation course she has presented several papers and won first prize in quiz and oral presentations.

After completion of her dermatology training, she chose to specialize in aesthetic medicine for which she travelled to all parts of the world and spent time in mastering her dream specialty.

She has visited the National Skin centre in Singapore in 1985 and spent time in the centre observing the latest technologies. She has also had overseas training across the globe.

She got trained in dermatology and hair transplant at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio U.S.A. She attended an advanced cosmetic dermatology course in London in 2005, an advanced aesthetic dermatology course in Kasemrad Aesthetic centre in Thailand in 2009 and an advanced course in dermatology at Ramathibodi in Bangkok, Thailand in 2012.

She held the post of Vice President of Cosmetic Dermatology Society of India between 2006 and 2008. She is also the founder member of Indian Academy of Aesthetic Dermatology. She runs courses and workshops in Aesthetic Dermatology for the young and upcoming dermatologists.

She has delivered guest lectures in national and international conferences, published papers and written chapters in textbooks of Dermatology. She has been conferred FRCP by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, U.K and FRCP by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Edinburg, U.K.

She is keenly interested in educating the public and thereby has delivered many radio and television talks to create public awareness on skin related issues.

Her organizing capabilities have led her to be an advisory board member for many scientific symposiums.

Her keen interest in research and clinical trials is commendable. She runs a post doctoral fellowship course in her centre catering to the needs of young and upcoming dermatologists. Her centre is one of the few centers which houses all facilities under one roof with well trained staff and has the state of art technology.
